Driving Lessons WA is a small home based business located in Byford, Western Australia.

I have been living and operating in the Byford area for the last 2 years and have had the opportunity to meet and teach many local people of different age, nationality and backgrounds.

I enjoy meeting new people and even more enjoy helping people obtain their licence, and then seeing them driving around.

I look forward to seeing you drive around : )

Where do we start the lessons?

For your lesson we can arrange to meet at your home, my home, work, school, a test centre, or another prearranged location.

Lessons take place in the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale and The City Of Armadale.

I will also travel to Kwinana to give lessons and other areas depending on distance from Byford.

What happens in the lesson?

This all depends on where you are in your driving journey.

If you have never driven before we will go through the basics - getting to know the controls, the vehicle and steering. Then we will get moving and start doing some corners and get use to turning, maintaining a speed and maintaining road position.

If you are learning manual the first few lessons will be mostly about learning how the manual works, starting and stopping, setting up for corners and then getting use to driving a manual.

If you are more advanced I will assess your current level and try to fix up any problem areas and further improve your driving skills and your looking skills.

I will also need to show you what you have to do in the PDA so you can practice as much as possible to get ready for your assessment.

The Practical Driving Assessment (PDA)

In order to obtain your drivers licence you will need to pass a practical driving Assessment.

First you will have to gain the skills required to drive safely and the knowledge of how the PDA works (Important).

As well as any other pre-requisites, eg passed the Hazard perception test, at least 17 and held your learners permit for at least 6 months, completed 50 hours in your log book with a minimum of 5 hours night driving. Different for international drivers and people over 25.

Once the pre-requisites are met then you can book and attempt your PDA.

Booking a PDA is not so straight forward. Most times you will find there are no bookings available, or the location or times available are not suitable.

Consider the number of people logged onto the system refreshing the booking page waiting for a booking to become available.

When the bookings do become available they are taken super fast, e.g. within seconds and minutes.

I recommend logging into the system during office hours and refreshing the booking page often to greatly improve your chance of getting a booking.

You can also try calling The Department of Transport if you do not wish to use the online booking system.
